Spirulina is the richest whole food source found in nature. Originally discovered growing naturally on unpolluted alkaline lakes in Central Africa and Mexico, it was integrated into the diet of the mightly Aztec empire. Today, Spirulina is organically frown around the world, and with research and development over the last 20 years, Synergy Spirulina has been produced containing the highest levels of all nutrients.

Spirulina is considered a superfood, containing over 100 nutrients (more than any other plant, grain or herb). Spirulina contains a high level of protein - amounting at up to 60-70% of its weight. This equates to 300% more protein than fish, meat or poultry, with no cholesterol. Spirulina is also 58 times richer than spinach in bio-available iron.

Spirulina is high in antioxidants, being 25 times richer in beta-carotene than carrot and 3 times richer in Vitamin E than wheatgerm. Synergy Spirulina assists weight loss by curbing appetite naturally while supplying a full range of nutrients needed for a balanced diet.

    Are you getting enough?
Our modern diet is overloaded with highly processed convenience foods which are nutrient and enzyme poor. Knowing this, many people supplement their diet with extra vitamins and minerals to protect against nutritional deficiencies. Spirulina is a complete, easily absorbed, highly concentrated food supplement. It contains over 100 natural synergistic nutrients.

    Nutritionally Complete
Synergy Spirulina contains the complete Vitamin B complex group and many important anti-oxidants (cell protectors). It is the richest natural source of Vitamin E and Beta Carotene. Other anti-oxidants present are Phycocyanin, mixed Carotenoids, Selenium, Zinc as well as vast array of trace elements and minerals. Phycocyanin, a rare blue pigment is a powerful immune stimulant. Vitamin B12 and iron are two nutrients commonly lacking especially in most vegetarian diets. Supplementing daily with Spirulina will help fill in these nutritional gaps.

    Extra Energy
The reason spirulina is so green is also why spirulina is so good for you. Synergy Spirulina contains large quantities of chlorophyll and phycocyanin. Chlorophyll traps sunlight to create energy and gives that energy back to you. If you find you need a little extra energy to get through the day, Synergy Spirulina may be the key for you.

    Natural Vs. Synthetic
The single most important factor in determining the effectiveness of any nutritional supplement, is the body’s ability to absorb those nutrients. Most multi-vitamin/mineral formulations are predominately laboratory synthesised. Over 50 clinical studies have shown that organic nutrients are absorbed up to 16x more effectively than synthetic ones. Synergy Spirulina contains just pure organic nutrients exactly as they occur in their natural form. Unlike synthetic supplements the vitamins, co-vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids, enzymes, co-enzymes and essential fatty acids all work together to ensure maximum assimilation and utilisation. Nothing has been added, and nothing removed but the water. If you are moving away from empty processed food and chemical vitamins to natural foods, start using Synergy Spirulina.

    Concentrated Protein
Amino Acids are the body’s building blocks for proteins, needed for muscle growth, immunity, enzymes and hormones. Synergy Spirulina contains 60-70% protein which provides a complete source of all 8 essential amino acids plus an additional 10 non-essential amino acids. Getting enough of all 8 essential amino acids can be a problem particularly for vegetarians.

    Essential Fatty Acids
Spirulina is a highly concentrated source of essential fatty acids. It is one of a few whole food sources containing omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in the form of Linoleic, Linolenic and Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA). These fatty acids are especially essential to womens’ good health.

    Weight Loss

Synergy Spirulina is a helpful addition to any sensible weight loss plan, as it contains natural appetite suppressants. Taken half an hour or so before mealtimes, it will help curb your appetite. Spirulina is speedily assimilated so that within minutes a vast array of nutrients are available to the bloodstream. In particular the amino acids phenylalanine and valine help to release an appetite controlling hormone, which gives you the “I feel full” signal. So while Spirulina contains no harmful chemicals or substances which suppress the appetite, it is a way of naturally bringing your appetite into balance.

    Customer questions / expert answers

    Q. Is Vital Greens good for breastfeeding mothers (due to have a baby in 3 wks) instead of taking a multivitamin tablet. Is vital greens all natural?

Vital Greens is a multi powder naturally derived.  However it is not specificially designed for pregnancy, as it contains some herbal ingredients for detox.  For this reason, the safest green powder to take in pregnancy is Spirulina powder - high in magnesium, iron, and plant protein to give you energy for birthing and lactation.  Start on 1 teaspoon per day, and can bring up to 1 teaspoon three times daily.  Great nutrition for you and your baby.

    Q. I read somewhere that Fibroplex Maintain should not be used for long period. I have been prescribed Fibroplex Maintain now for the 3rd month, is that a long time? Up to how long is it safe to continue taking?

Fibroplex is a comprehensive magnesium and amino acid supplement and can be taken indefinitely to improve energy and nervous tension. It is ultimately preferrable to find magnesium sources in foods, or you can consider moving to Spirulina (which has a large range of these nutrients in a natural wholefood plant form).

    Q. Just wondering how long you should take the Phyto Pro for? Thanks

2 weeks to a month is the standard. It depends if you've completed the full detox. If you are taking it in isolation - 2 bottles should be enough to detoxify the liver pathways. Generally you will have better digestion, and energy, and you can whean off Phyto Pro and replace it with a more general superfood like Spirulina or Super Greens.

    Q. I have a feeling I'm getting more and more deficient in some sort of nutrient. I'm a vegetarian, so I know B Vitamins are a concern with me. I've been trying to eat lots of beans and lentils, but I still feel weak and less energetic than I used to. Since I've moved to Australia in November 2011, I've been getting every cold, cough, sneeze, flu that passes my way. Not only is it incredibly annoying, but this has NEVER happened to me before.

I eat a lot of fruit to keep my immune system strong, and dark leafy vegetables to get iron and all that other good stuff in there. I don't know why I feel like I'm getting weaker and weaker. Plus, I'm craving SWEETS after dinner like CRAZY. I think this is because my dinners didn't provide enough of SOMETHING to satisfy me. Would this be a B Vitamin deficiency, and if so, what do I do?

If it's possible, I'd like to use food and adjustments in my diet first before I take any pills, but I know that as a vegetarian, there is only so much broccoli I can handle in one day! So I guess I'm saying I would be open to taking a pill of some sort, but only if it is Vegetarian friendly, and as few preservatives and additives as possible (I have a firm belief that preservatives cause cancer).

What would you recommend? I really appreciate your help and time!

Having reviewed your symptoms, it looks like you have a Vitamin B and iron deficiency. You can consider adding Spirulina powder - at least 1 tablespoon per day (you need to increase it to 3 tablespoons per day to improve energy).  You can take in a 1/2 water and juice drink or add to a juice smoothie.  The other option is to take a powdered multi like Ultra Muscleze with an Iron supplement.

    Q. Hi, I was wondering if you could recommend a product or supplement that can make my nails stronger?

Nails are primarily made-up of keratin (protein), but need vitamin (B vitamins and Biotin) and minerals (sulphur, silica, calcium) to strengthen nails. Check you are eating adequate protein and greens (for vits and minerals).

To improve protein absorption you can consider Isowhey powder - it contains the vitamins and minerals that will support nail strength. Another whole food superfood option is Spirulina powder, which contains plant protein and over 100 micronutrients for overall health.

    Q. Just wondering whether Metagenics Prime Essentials can be used in pregnancy? My practitioner is saying yes it can and that its better than a preganncy formula due to active b and active and nonactive folate, but I'm concerned about the Vit A, and to a lesser extent the selenium. A second opinion would be great!

    Many thanks in advance!

Metagenics Prime Essentials 375 micrograms of Vitamin A. Birth defect issues are reported at taking in excess of 3000 micrograms. I do understand your concern, and it maybe safer for you to use the Metagenics Pregnancy Care and add Synergy Spirulina - a multi superfood completely safe in pregnancy.
