Summary:

The blend of herbs in Nevaton offer nervous system and digestive support. These herbs provide a wide range of phytochemicals including the naphthodianthrones hypericin and pseudohypericin (hypericin), flavonoids, phenolics, dibenzocyclooctene lignans, sesquiterpenes, monoterpenes and other compounds. The St John's Wort component of this tablet is standardised to contain 413 µg per tablet of hypericin to ensure optimal strength and quality.

A powerful St John's Wort product reinforced by other herbs with complementary activity primarily for nervine tonic and mild relaxant effects. Regular supplementation with Nevaton will:

  • Help relieve nervous tension/unrest, irritability, stress and mild anxiety
  • Assist in the management of mood swings
  • Relief of sleeplessness and insomnia

Dosage:

Adults: 1 tablet 3-4 times daily. Children 6-12 years: 1 tablet 1-2 times daily.

Precautions:

May cause hyperaesthesia in some sensitive individuals especially when combined with a high exposure to sunlight. St John's Wort is not advisable in cases of known photosensitivity. Patients taking high doses should avoid excessive exposure to sunlight and UV radiation. St John's Wort affects the way some prescription medicines work.

Concurrent administration of high doses of St John's Wort is contraindicated with the following drugs: warfarin, digoxin, immunosuppressive drugs such as cyclosporin, indinavir (HIV protease inhibitor), nevirapine (HIV non-nucleoside transcriptase inhibitor), phenprocoumon, nifedipine, methadone, finasteride, cancer chemotherapeutic drugs such as irinotecan and calcium channel antagonists such as verapamil.

Caution is advised in patients taking anticonvulsants, combined oral contraceptives, theophylline, SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), antihistamines, benzodiazepines, oxycodone, omeprazole, hypoglycaemic drugs, methylphenidate, ivabradine, talinolol and viriconazole.

Caution is advised in patients taking statin drugs, monitor blood cholesterol regularly. It is possible for St John's Wort to interact with amitriptyline by reducing the level of the drug it is advisable to monitor patients also taking this medication. Caution is advised in patients with known clopidogrel resistance. Consume at least 2 hours away from ingestion of mineral supplements. Schisandra is contraindicated in pregnancy, except at birth. Discontinue 7 days prior to general anaesthesia.

  • Hypericum perforatum (St John's wort) extract equivalent to dry herb flowering top  750 mg
    • Standardised to contain hypericin 375 µg
    • equiv. to flavonoid glycosides 7.5 mg 
  • Schizandra chinensis (schisandra) extract equivalent to dry fruit  675 mg
  • Scutellaria lateriflora (skullcap) extract equivalent to dry herb  500 mg
  • Crocus sativus (Saffron) extract equivalent to dry stigma 22.5 mg
